Born on October 5, 1959, LI YINGYUAN, male, professor at South China University of Technology, earned his bachelor degree in July, 1984 at Fujian Normal University. Upon graduation, he was assigned to work as a teacher of English for senior students for 4 years at No. 1 Middle School, Wuping County, Fujian Province. In September, 1988, he was admitted to Harbin Institute of Technology for graduate program, and was conferred graduate certificate in February, 1990. After that, he was invited to stay there to work as a university teacher of English for over another 4 years. January of 1995 witnessed his transfer to South China University of Technology, and he has been making his hand and mouth meet at this university ever since then. 21 years has gone by and also seen him devote his time and energy to helping a great many students with English. During his stay at SCUT, two important events visited him. One was that he, from 1998 to 2000, attended the graduate program sponsored by the English Department of Fudan University, Shanghai where he was granted master degree of English literature by the school authorities after his 2 years’ persistent work. The other was that he, in 2008, enrolled in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies as a doctoral candidate and was awarded Doctor Degree in translation studies 3 years later. He has been trying his best to make contribution to promoting academic progress and development of his school by actively participating in compiling English grammar dictionaries for Chinese students, course books for non-English majors at graduate level, etc. He also has had many of his academic achievements such as essays, monographs and translations published. He is now Supervisor for graduates majoring in translation studies in English literature and masters of translating and interpreting, Assistant to Dean and Director of MTI program at School of Foreign Languages, SCUT
