The International Scholars Club plans to organize a tour on Thursday 15^th November. You will visit Yongqing Fang, Cantonese Opera Art Museum and Chen Liji pharmaceutical factory.

Following is some information for you to know more about the spots we will visit:

Yongqing Fang

Yongqing Fang, also known as Xiguan historical and cultural community in Liwan District of Guangzhou, is related to one of the most important renovation projects of Guangzhou old Alleyways. It used to be the economic center of southern China until the recession in the 1950s.  

Cantonese Opera Art Museum

Among over 360 varieties in Chinese Opera, Cantonese opera is one of the major categories, originating in southern China's Lingnan culture. If you are interested in the Cantonese opera culture, then don't miss the Cantonese Opera Art Museum. It gives a peek of the Cantonese culture through Cantonese opera which involves music, singing, martial arts, acrobatics and acting. It is not only popular across Guangdong province, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR, but also in Southeast Asia, Oceania and North America, where people with Cantonese origin live.

Chen Liji pharmaceutical factory

Founded in Ming dynasty (AD 1600), Guangzhou Chen Liji pharmaceutical factory has a history of 401 years. It is one of the oldest traditional Chinese medicine manufacturing enterprises in China, 69 years earlier than the famous Tong Ren Tang, and also named China time-honored brand by the state council.
