On the evening of October 31st, the 2017 Annual Speech of International Scholars and the 249th Academic Lecture Series of Century Kapok, jointly organized by the International Office and the SCUT Youth League Committee, was held in the Concert Hall of the University Town Campus. Professor Vincent Nadin, head of the Department of Architecture at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, gave a talk on urban development and European education for the freshman undergraduate students.

Professor Vincent Nadin started by articulating in simple terms the non-intelligent, non-sustainable development problems prevalent in urban development present in both Europe and China. He introduced how to protect the natural environment through first-rate urban design, so that coordinated development of ecology, culture and economy can be achieved in rapidly expanding cities.

Professor Nadin also introduced European higher education to students based on his years of experience studying and teaching in Europe, and made valuable suggestions on how to apply for European universities. The atmosphere of the lecture was warm and friendly, with students actively participating in the Q&A session where Professor Nadin answered their questions one by one.
