Estimator may confuse which failure is accurate and may waste much time in finding it. This paper intends to explore an easy method to build a user-friendly and local failure rate database. The main objectofstudy is Hazard and Operability analysis (HAZOP) ---one of the most popular Hazard Identification methodologies among Chemical Enterprise. So most of the study based on the inherent training and HAZOP study materials which is the guarantee for the practical application on site. After the introduction of various hazard identification techniques, a deep study is made of the HAZOP based on the original documentation of this method as well as the development research in decades. The origin, basic concept and the procedure of HAZOP is the foundation to understand the HAZOP in TOTAL clearly. The author received preliminary training in the TOTAL Refining & Chemicals site in Foshan first and then the internshipin TOTAL Petrochemicals Ningboproject department. TheHAZOP study for the design of a 200kty mass polystyrene (HIPS) plant at NB chemical zone is a vital case in this paper with detail description. Not only the case itself, the background of TOTAL HSE and the feedback work as auxiliary to perform a comprehensive display of a real HAZOP study case in experienced company. Depended on the description of sufficient HAZOP case, the relative merits and development of HAZOP is analyzed in the last section, including the training and popularization in China. May this research can help the Chinese chemical enterprise know and implement the HAZOP better. The paper is under the instructionand review of the experts from TOTAL Refining & Chemicals. Key Words: HAZOP; Hazard Identification; TOTAL Petrochemicals; Node. 洪思慧 Abstract This paper starts with the mechanism of evaporation of cryogenic liquid, analyzes the heat transfer and demonstrates that the evaporation process of cryogenic liquid is dominated by heat conduction. Some computational methods using to calculate the conducted heat duing the process are given, and the calculation of the evaporation rate is deduced. After a clear explaination of the mechanism, a discussion about the factors of influence is made based on experiments conducted by former scientists. This paper pays attention on following factors: type of release, substrate on which the spreading of the liquid takes place(water or land), boundary influence, ambient environment and liquid types. On the basis of factorial analysis, recommendations in relation to hazards prevention aspect are formulated. The BLEVE is an extremely harmful physical explosion, it has the special happening mechanism and the consequences are always totally disasters.he study of BLEVE is important to this kind of accident’s prevention and treatment.This paper introduces the mechanism of BLEVE.A comprehensive review of experiments available so far is presented.Certain analysis on future development ofBLEVE rsearch is given. Key words:BLEVE;state of the art;literature review 欧纯松 Abstract By combining research progress both at home and abroad, the paper introduces in detail the principle and model describing that after accidental release of dangerous liquid products in the chemical industry ,the leakage liquids spread and form a liquid pool and further evaporate, analyses the factors of spreading and evaporation of the pool, compares the characteristics of different evaporation models, and therefore can serve as a certain guide for environmental risk assessment and emergency management and rescue of the accidents.
