On the morning of September 17, 2025, Professor Mi Yaorong (Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University led a delegation including Professors Su Zhongqing, Zhao Xiaolin, Huang Haitao, Shen Xi, and Chen Zibin to South China University of Technology for academic exchange. The meeting was held in Room 346, Building 25, Wushan Campus of South China University of Technology, and chaired by Professor Guo Baochun, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology.Attending the meeting from South China University of Technology were: Professor Chen Guangming, School of Civil Engineering and Transportation; Professor Chu Yanhui, School of Materials Science and Engineering; Professor Ma Longtun, School of Materials Science and Engineering; Du Shufen, Director of the School Office, School of Materials Science and Engineering.
During the opening ceremony, Professor Mi Yaorong delivered speeches, expressing his honor to come to South China University of Technology for academic exchange and hoping that this exchange could promote cooperation between personnel from both sides and further advance the development of the field of composite materials. Professor Guo Baochun then introduced the School of Materials Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology.Subsequently, participants from both sides conducted academic exchanges focusing on polymer-based composites, high-entropy ceramic composites, energy storage composites, and cement-based/infrastructure composites. The topics of the academic exchanges were as follows:
Personal Views on Composite Materials Research (Professor Mi Yaorong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University)
Mechanical Properties of Multi-Material 3D-Printed Elastomers and Elastomeric Composites (Associate Professor Jin Binjie, South China University of Technology)
Anisotropic Polymer Nanocomposites for Multifunctional Applications (Professor Shen Xi, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University)
Floating Structures (Professor Zhao Xiaolin, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University)
Application of Composite Hybrid Structures in Bridge Engineering: Research and Practice (Professor Chen Guangming, South China University of Technology)
Structural Energy Storage (Professor Huang Haitao, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University)
Rechargeable Zinc Metal Batteries (Professor Ma Longtao, South China University of Technology)
In-Situ Transmission Electron Microscopy (Professor Chen Zibin, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University)
Development of High-Entropy Ultra-High-Temperature Ceramics for Extreme Environments (Professor Chu Yanhui, South China University of Technology)
