Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems Engineering Technology Research Center of Guangdong established by SCUT, is mainly studying key UAV generic technology research and industrial application technology development. It is an important UAV discipline construction and scientific research platform in SCUT, and has a leading position in UAV research and development department in China,and support the construction and development of the new major Low Altitude Technology and Engineering.
The center combining with the national development direction of UAV, based on UAV, AI, big data and “Internet +” reserves in Guangdong, has undertaken many major/key research projects, developed independently a variety of configurations of UAV and control systems, done the core technology researches on structure design, navigation positioning and perception, the life time, autonomous cruise, remote control, image comes back and expanded function of the high-performance UAV, and made a number of difficult point technology breakthrough, enhancing the core components and the level of independent research of the machine. The UAVs have long flight range, stable and autonomous takeoff and landing, hovering and load. Ducted fan tail sitter vertical take-off and landing(VTOL)aircraft, which is developed independently, has the advantages of high aerodynamic efficiency, small size, safety and reliability, multi-flight mode switching, and high-speed long-endurance cruise flight.
The center pays attention to the industry-education-research and forms a technical alliance with relevant enterprises of UAV industry in Guangdong. The research results are applied in mapping, security reconnaissance, power line patrol, emergency rescue, intelligent agriculture and other intelligent flight tasks with good application effect. Promotes the new and the vertical take-off and landing of UAV system modeling technologies, flight control, multi-sensor data acquisition and fusion, visual navigation key technology, collaborative mission planning and technology development, to further promote the application of AI in UAV, expand the UAV downstream applications and upgrade economic structure.
