To deepen the leading role of Party building and promote the joint construction of Party building, resource sharing and collaborative talent cultivation between schools and enterprises, on the morning of January 6th, the School of Automation Science and Engineering of South China University of Technology and Guangzhou Metro Group jointly held a Party building joint construction and talent cooperation exchange meeting at the Guangzhou Metro Party building base and Guangzhou Metro Museum. Zhang Chupan, deputy chief engineer of Guangzhou Metro Group, secretary of the Party branch of TIEKE ZHIKONG Company, and alumnus of the School of Automation Science and Engineering of South China University of Technology (Class of 1994, majoring in Industrial Electrical Automation), Li Ying, deputy secretary and deputy director of the Human Resources Department Party branch, Ning Suizhi, manager of the Scientific Research Management Department of the Science and Technology Innovation Department, Li Weiling, manager of the Talent Service Center of the Human Resources Department, Chen Chaoliang, human resources supervisor of the Talent Service Center of the Human Resources Department, and Chen Wei, member of the Party branch of TIEKE ZHIKONG Company, among other enterprise representatives, warmly received and participated in the exchange. Led by Secretary Zheng Wenjie and Deputy Secretary Shen Hongyu of the Party Committee of the School of Automation Science and Engineering of South China University of Technology, eight teachers including Professor Liu Yiqi, secretary of the First Party Branch of the Faculty, Song Ge, secretary of the Party Branch of the Office, Pan Yongzhi, secretary of the First Party Branch of the Doctoral Students, Li Wang, secretary of the Second Party Branch of the Doctoral Students, Wei Yi, secretary of the First Party Branch of the Undergraduate Students, and Wen Yutong, deputy secretary of the First Party Branch of the Undergraduate Students, along with 46 student Party members, participated in the event. 

I. In-depth Discussions at the School-Enterprise Symposium, Sketching a New Blueprint for Cooperation

At the symposium on school-enterprise cooperation, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as the integration of Party building and business, academic research, and talent cultivation. The Party Secretary of the College, Zheng Wenjie, provided a detailed account of the college's development overview and educational achievements. She stated that the School of Automation Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology has a profound academic foundation and has long been guided by national strategic needs, establishing distinct advantages in areas such as automation control and intelligent systems. The college adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and nurturing talent and has established a multi-level talent cultivation system. Its graduates are recognized in the industry for their solid foundation and strong innovation capabilities, with many alumni having grown into key figures in various fields. In terms of scientific research and innovation, the college, relying on multiple research platforms, has produced a large number of high-level achievements and actively promotes the integration of industry and research. As a leading enterprise in the rail transit industry, Guangzhou Metro Group's experience in Party building leadership and technological innovation is worth learning from. It is hoped that both sides will take this exchange as an opportunity to deepen all-round cooperation. 

Vice Minister Li Ying extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation from the School of Automation on behalf of the company and systematically introduced the development history and core achievements of Guangzhou Metro. She pointed out that since its establishment, Guangzhou Metro has always adhered to the original aspiration of serving you wholeheartedly to the citizens. From the opening of the first line to the current total operating mileage of over 1,400 kilometers, it has built a rail transit network covering the entire city of Guangzhou and has become a core force in extending the city's major arteries. In terms of integrating Party building with business operations, the company has created the Red Sheep Horn Party building brand, innovatively implemented the 1+4 work system and the 1+N Party building management model, using the Party building chain to lead the industrial chain, and taking the lead in establishing the rail transit industry alliance, achieving the international output of the Chinese solution for the entire industrial chain, demonstrating the responsibility of a state-owned enterprise. At the same time, the company has achieved fruitful results in core technology research and development, green and smart metro construction, and other fields, and has successively won honors such as National Civilized Unit and Advanced Grassroots Party Organization of Guangdong Province. 

 At the symposium, Zhang Chupan, an alumnus of the 1994 batch of the Industrial Electrical Automation major from the college and the deputy chief engineer of Guangzhou Metro Group, shared his experiences, which resonated widely among the teachers and students present. Combining his over three decades of professional growth, he affectionately recounted his journey from the campus of South China University of Technology to the workplace, and his growth along with Guangzhou Metro. Focusing on the core field of metro signal control, he detailed the breakthrough path of China's urban rail transit signal systems from reliance on imports to achieving independent control: In the early days, China's metro signal systems were monopolized by foreign enterprises, with core technologies controlled by others, high operation and maintenance costs, and low response efficiency. To break this predicament, Guangzhou Metro formed a research team and, in collaboration with top domestic research institutions, initiated the development of domestic systems, overcoming multiple core technologies such as train automatic protection and fully automatic driving, and successfully developed a signal system with complete independent intellectual property rights, achieving the highest level of fully automatic operation. It is reported that this system has been widely applied to multiple lines in many cities across the country, with a considerable total mileage, generating significant economic benefits, and completely breaking the foreign technological monopoly, providing solid support for national development needs in the bottleneck area of signal control. Zhang Chupan also shared Guangzhou Metro's practical explorations in empowering the construction of a transportation power, introduced the achievements of the intelligent operation and maintenance system based on communication with high control accuracy, and encouraged young students to base themselves on their majors, have a sense of the country, and make achievements in the fields where the country needs them.

During the interactive session, young student Party members actively raised questions, engaging in in-depth discussions with the enterprise leaders on issues such as the relationship between Party spirit cultivation and personal career growth, the development trend of smart metro, enterprise talent profile and knowledge reserve suggestions, and the implementation path of industry-academia integration. The leaders of Guangzhou Metro Group, drawing on their own experiences, patiently answered the students' questions, emphasizing that the enterprise attaches great importance to the innovation ability and sense of responsibility of talents, and encouraging young students to cherish their campus time, not only to consolidate their professional foundation but also to broaden their knowledge horizons, actively connect with the cutting-edge of industry development, and cultivate cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.

At the end of the symposium, leaders from both sides expressed that they would take this joint construction of Party building as a bond to further deepen cooperation in scientific research projects, joint cultivation of talents, base construction and other aspects, achieving complementary resources and mutual benefit and win-win results.

II. Red Culture Edification Strengthens Convictions; On-site Study Deepens Understanding of Original Aspiration

After the symposium, under the guidance of the tour guide, both sides visited the Red Sheep Horn Party Building Base of Guangzhou Metro. As one of the top ten Party building brands of state-owned enterprises in Guangzhou, this base creatively transformed the metro tracks into a struggle journey timeline, marking major historical events of the Party at each station; it used the train dispatching system to metaphorically represent the Party's organizational system, demonstrating an efficient and coordinated operation mechanism; and it used the metro network map to symbolize the organizational structure of the Party, embodying the concept of full coverage. During the visit, everyone systematically learned about the practical achievements of the Red Power Project of Guangzhou Metro, deeply understood how the 1+N Party building management model achieved the synchronous development of Party building and business, and listened in detail to the advanced deeds of outstanding Party members among the Metro People under the Party Flag. These front-line Party members and pioneers interpreted their original aspiration and mission with their actions, deeply touching the teachers and students present. 

In the oath-taking area of the Party building base, a ceremony was held for new Party members to take the oath of allegiance and for veteran members to renew their pledges. All the Party members sang the Internationale together, facing the Party flag, raising their right fists, and reciting the oath of allegiance with firm and resounding voices. The solemn pledges and the passionate singing demonstrated the responsibilities and commitments of the Party members. After the oath-taking ceremony, the college leaders presented Party badges and books to each of the new Party members one by one, encouraging them to remember their Party member duties, strengthen theoretical learning, and play a leading and exemplary role in professional studies and practices. 

III. Exploring the Metro Museum: Technology Empowers and Broadens Horizons

A group of teachers and students visited the Guangzhou Metro Museum for a study tour. Guided by the museum staff, they gained a comprehensive understanding of the development of Guangzhou Metro from its inception to the current network of lines, and felt the initial aspiration of the Guangzhou Metro Construction Dream behind the 1,400-plus kilometers of operational mileage. The 1:1 scale model of the shield machine inside the museum was truly impressive. Through immersive exhibits and video materials, the teachers and students clearly observed the internal structure and working principle of the shield machine, and deeply understood how the builders overcame complex geological challenges such as karst caves and broke through the bottlenecks in tunnel construction. In the simulated driver's cab, the students personally experienced the operation process and intuitively felt the precision and rigor of metro driving through interactive fun activities, further enhancing their understanding of the operation and management of urban rail transit. The combination of scientific popularization and fun in the visit experience enabled everyone to have a deeper understanding of the technological innovation and development prospects of the urban rail transit industry. 

This Party building cooperation and talent exchange conference, through various forms such as symposiums, red study tours, and technological exploration, has built a communication bridge for the Party building cooperation and talent cultivation between the university and enterprises. It not only enabled student Party members to temper their Party spirit and broaden their horizons in practice, but also promoted in-depth cooperation between the college and leading enterprises in the industry. In the next step, the School of Automation Science and Engineering of South China University of Technology will continue to rely on the one-stop Party building community platform, deepen the cooperation between the university and enterprises, innovate the integration model of Party building and education, and contribute to cultivating high-quality automation talents capable of shouldering the responsibility of national rejuvenation and promoting the high-quality development of the rail transit industry.
