On the morning of December 10th, 2015, a lecture entitled “the Key Scientific Problem and Exploration in Big Data Analysis and Processing” was held successfully in LiWu building. The invited speaker was Academician Zongben Xu from Xi’an JiaoTong University. The lecture was chaired by Professor Yuanqing Li, Dean of School of Automation Science and Engineering.

Firstly, Professor Li gave us a brief introduction about Professor Xu, who is a member of Chinese Academy of Science and a mathematician, an information processing expert. He is major in Intelligent information processing, machine learning and data modeling basic theory. Then, Professor Xu gave us detailed introduction about the analysis and processing of big data. The report was given in the aspects of the basic concept, value and research results of big data, and explained that big data provide scientific methods and scientific new paradigm, and format new fields of high-tech and new engine of social progress. Finally, he introduced several applications of big data.

This lecture has attracted a lot of students and we believed that students has not only widened their academic view but also developed keen interests in this research field.
