2022 Notice of Faculty (Teaching and Researching) Recruitment
The School of Arts of the South China University of Technology (SCUT) was established in 2004. The five divisions of the School are the Music Academic Studies Department, the Instrumental Department, the Vocal Department, the Dance Department, and the Arts Education Center. Its predecessor was the Arts Department of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. In 2002 the School started to admit nationwide music performance students for bachelor degree, and in 2004 the field of dance academic studies was added. Currently there are three academic fields for bachelor students which are music performance, dance academic studies, and music academic studies. In 2004 the School also started to admit students for master degree in music academic studies, and currently the School has the music and dance academic studies first grade discipline master degree program. Current students include 456 undergraduate students and 53 graduate students.
The School possesses the Ministry of Education “General High School Chinese Outstanding Traditional Culture Heritage Base (Cantonese Opera Arts)”, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture “Guangdong Non-Material Culture Heritage Research Base”, and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education “School Arts Education Activity Instrumental Training Base”. The educational concept of “encouraging original compositions as development engine, to drive academic construction and talent training” brings the possibility of the practical platform, where the SCUT Youth Symphony Orchestra, the School of Arts Chorus, and the Dance Troupe successfully performed several original concerts at the National Center for Performing Arts and the Guangzhou Opera Hose. The School also took part in the celebration performances for the 40th Anniversary of Guangdong Economic Reform and Open, and the 20th Anniversary of Macau’s Return.
In recent years, the School acquired great progress in academic researches, presiding over the national projects of National Arts Foundation, National Social Sciences Foundation Arts Division, Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences, and Guangdong Philosophical Social Sciences. Numerous faculty members received “Golden Bell Award”, Ministry of Culture “Wenhua Award”, “Silk Road Cultural Contribution Award”, “Lotus Award”, “Lu Xun Literature and Arts Award”, “Guangdong Philosophical Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award” among other national level and provincial level rewards.
The School currently has 48 faculty members, among them are 4 professors, 22 associate professors, 18 lecturers, and 4 teaching assistants. 5 of them hold doctoral degree. The School emphasizes music composing and theory analyzing, and actively develops music performance and dance academic studies. It forms the trinity of educational features “Composing – Performing – Academic Researching”. Aiming for implementing the strategies to enhance local colleges with talents, strengthening the faculty team, and improve the overall development, the School launches the global recruitment and welcomes candidates from all over the world.

b) Application Dates
Deadline: 30 April 2022
2. Qualification Preliminary Examination
After the deadline, the School recruitment team will follow the recruitment regulations to make preliminary examination of the applicants’ qualification, and the shortlisted candidates will be informed for interview by email or phone call.
3. Interview and Examination
Interview and examination will focus on professional skills and teaching ability. Chosen candidate will be decided according to the examination score, and the School will follow the University regulations and procedures to report the chosen candidates to the University.
4. Physical Examination
The School will confirm the list of physical examination according to the examination score and the University regulations. The standard of physical examination will follow the corresponding regulations of Guang Dong Province.
5. Publicity
After the interview and examination, the physical examination, and inspection, the succeeded to-be-recruited candidate will be confirmed, and publicly announced. Candidates without any objection after the public announcement will be reported to the University according to regulations and procedures. All application materials will not be returned to failed candidates.
