Conclusion of British travel

With excitement, on July 18, our group arrived at Heathrow Airport. First to England, the sky floating a thin layer of dark clouds, the people around speak the authentic English, everything shows that this is a new, strange country for me. With some trepidation and anticipation, our trip to England began.

The next day, after half an hour's drive, we came to Cambridge. Cambridge is a historic town, and although it is on vacation, from the pedestrians who pass by and from the college buildings that have undergone a time of baptism, the tip of the iceberg Cambridge's glorious history of education can be seen. Mr. Colin from Oxford began to teach us a Cambridge practical English course. The teacher used simple and understandable language to tell us some common expressions of spoken English in our daily life, and encouraged us to speak to the local residents of the UK and to practice our oral speaking. Under Colin's easy-going education, our practical English has been improved to a certain extent, and everyday life in Britain has become more interesting.

In addition, professors from Cambridge and other prestigious universities have brought us courses about Cambridge culture, innovative entrepreneurship, and after listening to Professor Helen's course on Cambridge culture, we visited the Cambridge Innovation and entrepreneurship base and knew about the innovative thinking and atmosphere of the world's higher education institutions. On July 20, we were honored to have a formal dinner with Professor Helen, trying out British cuisine and understanding the English table manners. The professor recited Xu Zhimo 's poetry Say Good-bye to Cambridge Again at the dinner party, pushed the dinner to the climax and after dinner we blessed the friendship between China and Britain together. Other professors have also brought us full and interesting courses. With the help of several professors and Colin, we prepared a course review lecture on the July 27. Some of us done an unbelievable good job. The Professor graded our speech and made suggestions to us, and then at that day afternoon, he taught us a course about the content of innovation and material. We have learned a lot about the development of international materials, the situation of innovation and even some of the international situation.

We also visited the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge. The Cavendish Laboratory was established by Maxwell in 1871, and was named the Cavendish Laboratory in memory of Henry Cavendish. Many important scientific achievements have been bred in the Cavendish Laboratory, including the discovery of electrons, neutrons, the structure of the nucleus found, the discovery of the double helix structure of DNA, and so on, which has made a significant contribution to the scientific development of mankind and has won several Nobel Prizes. During the visit, we saw the cathode ray tube which J.J. Thomson used to found electrons, a double helix structural model of the DNA which assembled by Watson and Crick, and the devices Rutherford used to discover neutrons, etc. Photos on the wall are recorded the staff in the laboratory every year from the beginning of the last century. Scientists in these photos show a bright smile on the camera, behind the lens, where cannot be recorded by camera, they use their wisdom and perseverance, to promote the continuous development of human science and technology and led human to a brighter future.

In addition to being very profitable in the course, we also learned about different heritage cultures between the UK and China. Cambridge University with a long history was originally founded by a group of scholars who escaped from Oxford. Many buildings have centuries of history. On the campus of Cambridge, in addition to various colleges, there are many interesting museums, and we visited several of them during the weekend. Located in Central Cambridge, the Fitzwilliam Museum is an art archaeological museum with many interesting weapons and porcelain on display; The Ocean Museum has many specimens of marine life, which make people feel like they are in the ocean and experience the evolution of ocean history and species. The Darwin Museum is a collection of specimens from a variety of creatures that make people linger.

Under the teacher's guidance, we went to London. Unlike the Cambridge Town, London combines modernity with the past, with a modern city bustling with a deep history background. There are modern buildings like the Shard, as well as historic buildings such as the St. Paul Church, which has experienced centuries of rain and wind. Now that we have arrived in the UK, we have to visit the famous Tower Bridge and Big Ben, but unfortunately the Big Ben is in repair and can't see the whole picture. In addition, we visited the British Museum and the National Gallery, where historical artifacts and paintings were shocking and seemed to glimpse the tip of the iceberg of human civilization. In the British Museum, I met Rosetta Stone which have long enjoyed a good reputation as one of the centerpieces of the British museum. I also met some tightly wrapped mummies, ancient Roman artifacts and so on. At the National Gallery, we visited the famous paintings of British painters. Wandered in such halls of art and it seemed that with the fine brushwork of the painter the soul had come back to England at that time. The charm of art is strong and borderless, and by visiting the National Gallery, I seem to have a deeper, and seemingly spiritual, communion with these great painters. At Westminster Abbey, we were fortunate enough to see the tombstone of the sleep-underground great men who make a great contribution to Britain and even to the history of mankind. Walked among them, I could not help but be proud of these ancestors who human beings had. It was their efforts that made us enjoy everything now. The steps of the human race will not stop, and the efforts of these sages will not be wasted.

At the end of the study tour, we also visited Oxford University and experienced a different academic atmosphere between Cambridge and Oxford, and knew some questions about the University of Oxford. Then, with a feeling of frustration, we came to Heathrow Airport again and started to return. At August 3, we returned to Guangzhou, the British trip was to end. I hope to have a chance to travel again in the UK and hope that the friendship between China and Britain will endure.
