In order to create a good academic atmosphere and promote the improvement of our faculty's research capabilities, on January 15, 2024, our institute held the third session of the Dean's Salon with the theme 'Exchange on Research Development Planning.' The salon was hosted by the dean, Xue Quan, and attended by the Secretary of the College Party Committee, Ji Fei, assistant deans of various departments, and young faculty members newly recruited by the institute in the past five years, engaging in discussions and exchanges.
Dean Xue Quan emphasized that the purpose of this exchange is to delve into and promote the institute's research work at a higher level. He stressed the urgency of building an organized and strategically-minded research team. Dean Xue Quan pointed out that due to differences between experiences abroad and domestic research methods, it is essential for individuals returning to China to adapt to an organized research approach, forming clear working methods and directions within the team.
Furthermore, Dean Xue Quan highlighted the importance of young researchers paying attention to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and encouraged them to formulate a 3-5 year plan focusing on the national economy and major projects. He advised setting clear short-term goals and long-term development directions. Research teams should emphasize the distinctiveness of their projects, paying attention to unique aspects in both research content and methods. Additionally, the institute will further enhance talent recruitment efforts, provide personalized services to ensure that individuals can fully dedicate themselves to research work.
The atmosphere during the discussion and exchange on that day was enthusiastic, with participants actively contributing their thoughts and engaging in fruitful discussions. Through collaborative thinking, three research directions with certain foresight and depth were refined. Attendees expressed their determination to further adjust or clarify their research directions and pledged to collaborate closely, share information, and strengthen cooperation with renowned domestic and international universities and research institutions. This collaborative effort aims to enhance the institute's core competitiveness in specific fields.
