The competition, abbreviated as the Bay High Competition, was successfully held in Guangzhou, showcasing significant achievements. Professor Xue Quan, the Dean of the School of Microelectronics, and his team received the Gold Award for their Wideband High-Efficiency 5G Millimeter-Wave Phased Array Front-End System. Additionally, Professor Li Bin, the Vice Dean, and his team secured the Silver Award for their research and application of the Core Technology of Satellite Communication and Beidou Global Navigation RF Chips. This marks the first time our university has been honored at the Bay High Competition.
The 2023 Bay High Competition was officially launched in August with the theme of Strengthening High-Value Patents, Cultivating Layouts, Empowering High-Quality Development of the Manufacturing Industry. Co-organized by the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation (Intellectual Property Office), the People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality, the Intellectual Property Department of Hong Kong, and the Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the competition covered 20 strategic industry clusters, including next-generation electronic information, high-end equipment manufacturing, biomedicine and health, and new energy.
Following preliminary judging and final project roadshows, comprehensive evaluations were conducted based on industry patent competition, technological development trends, and the quality and layout of submitted patents. Out of over 2000 patents, 50 were selected for Gold, Silver, and Excellence Awards.
