Introduction:
It is a comprehensive technology foundation course with the combination of electric technology theory and practice. Furthermore, it is a practice lesson focus on project awareness and skills training.

The tasks in this course include: Learning the basic theory of electronic technology; Mastering the basic methods and operational skills in selection and basic testing of electronic components and materials, drawings of printed circuit boards, manufacture of the printed circuit boards, installation and welding of electronic products, debugging the circuit performance, and others. Using properly of common tools, instrumentation and electronic circuit computer-aided design software.

After students manufacture the typical circuit production, they can understand the basic manufacturing processes of electronic products. On the other hand, they should manufacture the circuits from the product point of view, and consider the practical factors include the requirements of using products, technology conditions, quality, cost-effective and so on. These exercises will help them to build awareness of engineering, cultivate the ability to systematically design electronic circuit and operate the circuits, improve the ability to solve practical problems, and set innovative and rigorous style of work, which will lay the foundation for their related work in future.

  I. Characteristics and assignment of the course
It is a comprehensive technology foundation course in which the theory and practice of electronic technology are combined. According to students majored in specialties of science and technology, it is an obligatory course. Furthermore, it is a practice lesson focus on project awareness and skills training.
Overall, the course contains four main tasks. Firstly, students should learn the basic theory of electronic technology. Secondly, they will be familiar with the use basic testing of electronic components, and the essential technologies to design and produce printed circuit board. Thirdly, they will master the elementary skills include installation and welding of electric components and basic technique to debug circuits. At last, students should understand the basic processes of manufacturing electric products, develop their ability to systematically design and operate electronic circuits, and improve their qualities to solve practical problems. These exercises will help them to set innovative and rigorous style of work, and lay the foundation for their related work in future.

II. Basic requirement of the curriculum
  1. According to common electronic components, students should understand its use, classification, models, specifications and symbols, etc., and be familiar with their main properties and selection principles, and master the methods of measurement.
  2. Students should understand the technical process to produce the printed circuit boards, and master hand-printed circuit board design and computer-aided design method, and master the method to produce qualified printed circuit board by hand.
  3. Students should be familiar with basic knowledge and requirements of installing and welding processes for electronic circuits, and master the basic skills of hand-welding. They should weld out one (one-week internship) or two (two-week internship) qualified electronic products.
  4. Students should master the method of circuit debugging, and use properly instruments and equipments, and record and test accurately the detected data of parameters. The scientific analysis and judgments can be carried out when there are some anomalies arising in the course of debugging, furthermore, a reasonable solution can be found by themselves.
  5. This textbook is looked as a self-study material, and it should be read mainly by students themselves. The teaching contents will focus on the importance points. According to professional requirements and internship schedules, the technical documents of electronic products and methods to consult the engineering and technical manual will be moderately introduced.
