In June, 2021, Shanghai Soft Science Education Information Consulting Co., Ltd., the world's leading higher education evaluation institution, released the 2021 Professional Rankings of Soft Science in Chinese Universities, and the business English major of the School of Foreign Languages of South China University of Technology ranked 4th (A+major) among 207 participating universities, with a significant leading edge in China. This is another important achievement of the major construction after being awarded the national first-class undergraduate major construction point in 2020.

This major relies on the advantages of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and double-first-class A-class construction universities, and forms the training mode of one drive and four dimensions. In the past eight years' major construction, Business English major has formed the talent training characteristics of balanced development of language and business, global vision of home and country feelings, parallel learning, thinking and action ability, innovation and creativity, and internationalization. In the future development, this major will continue to adhere to the university spirit of respecting morality and learning, striving for self-improvement, being pragmatic and innovative, and pursuing excellence, aiming at cultivating three-strength and three-creative business English talents, and developing first-class undergraduate major construction.
In this ranking, our Japanese major occupied 42(A (A major) among 254 participating universities, and achieved good results, laying a good foundation for striving for first-class undergraduate major.

According to the Soft Science Education (https://www.shanghairanking.cn), this major ranking is based on the major set in the Catalogue of Undergraduate Major in Ordinary Colleges and Universities (2020 Edition) of the Ministry of Education, which was first released in 2021. It covers 509 undergraduate majors in 92 major categories and 12 major categories, and has released nearly 30,000 major points, which is by far the largest ranking of undergraduate majors in Chinese universities. Professional Ranking of Chinese Universities in Soft Science has a unique professional competitiveness evaluation framework, which comprehensively evaluates majors through the three-level professional competitiveness evaluation framework of schools, disciplines and majors.
