Chunli Yang, associate professor of English literature at South China University of Technology, Guangzhou. Her research focuses on English teaching as a second language, literary theories and studies, and translation.

She has been teaching the courses of Intensive Reading (I-IV), Extensive Reading ((I-IV), Selected Readings of English Literature, Selected Readings of American Literature, Understanding English Short Fiction.

She is the author of “An Analysis of Rappaccini’s Daughter in the Biblical Tradition”(2010) and coauthor of “On the Forms and Functions of Chinese-English Code-switching in Internet Literature”(2005)and “An Empirical Study of Topic-based Teaching Approach in Cultivating Students’ Integrated Skills” (2005).

She is the translator (into Chinese) of Peter Brooker’s Modernity and Metropolis: Writing, Film and Urban Formations; a co-translator(into Chinese) of Maria Nikolajeva’s The Rhetoric of Character in Children’s Literature, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s The Little House on the Prairie, Toby Musgrave, Chris Gardner & Will Musgrave’s The Plant Hunters, Nancy Rosanoff’s Knowing When It’s Right, Karen Farrington’s The History of Religion, and Martina Cole’s novel Dangerous Lady (1996). She is currently translating Urban People and Places: The Sociology of Cities, Suburbs, and Towns by Daniel Joseph Monti, Michael Ian Borer & Lyn C. Macgregor.

She is one of the compilers of Zooming In: An Integrated English Course (Student’s Book, Teacher’s Manual, Student’s Guide)(Prof. Xiubai Qin as the chief compiler) (2014); one of the compilers of Selected Readings in British and American Literature(Prof. Jianbo Liu as the chief compiler)2005.
