My research interests are mainly in language testing and assessment. I am deeply interested in College English Test Band 4 (CET-4) rater decision-making, issues of test-takers' pronunciation comprehensibility in Computer-based English Listening and Speaking Test (CELST) of National Matriculation English Test (Guangdong Version), application of Automated Essay Scoring (AES) in classroom assessment, and assessment literacy.

Doctor Xu Ying is Associate Professor and Master Supervisor of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at School of Foreign Languages, South China University of Technology (one of the top universities in China). He graduated in 2014 at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, supervised by Prof. Zeng Yongqiang, a domestically prestigious language testing researcher. He serves the position of Vice Director of College English Department. He is also the Contributing Item Writing Expert for The Education Examination Authority of Guangdong Province. Recently, his research interests are mainly in College English Test Band 4 (CET-4) rater decision-making, issues of test-takers' pronunciation comprehensibility in Computer-based English Listening and Speaking Test (CELST) of National Matriculation English Test (Guangdong Version), application of Automated Essay Scoring (AES) in classroom assessment, and language assessment literacy. His publications can be found in linguistics and educational journals, such as E-Education Research (CSSCI), Curriculum, Teaching Material and Method (CSSCI), Foreign Language Education in China (CSSCI), Journal of Xi'an Foreign Languages University (CSSCI) and Journal of PLA University of Foreign Languages(CSSCI). He is the Principal Investigator for five provincial research projects. In 2016, he was funded by National Scholarship Council to work in Linguistics and English Language Department at Lancaster University as a visiting scholar for one year.
