One of Our Japanese Majors Performed Excellently at the 7th China National Japanese Speech Contest

On the afternoon of July 23, the finals of Seventh China National Japanese Speech Contest were held in Tokyo with 16 players from 8 regions of China taking part in the competition. After fierce competition, Shen Xuemei, undergraduate of Japanese major of our school, enrolled in 2009, won the runner-up and Xu Min of Shanghai International Studies University from East China won the championship. Five players of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies won third place.


Surrounding the two topics of China and Japan – “the Importance of Different Cultural Exchanges” and “Microblog and Me”, the players expressed their own unique opinions in Japanese fluently and earnestly which captivated the judges and the audience. Having been appointed as the Chairman of the Judge’s Panel for five seasons consecutively, Kameyama Ikuo, president of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, said that the players have made amazing progress in the past five years, and the language levels of the current players are higher than the players of the previous seasons.



  Beginning in 2006, the China National Japanese Speech Contest is sponsored by Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the China Education Association for International Exchange and the Society of Chinese Professors in Japan, aiming at deepening the understanding about Japan of Chinese students majored in Japanese. . It is understood that the 9,690 students from 213 colleges and universities in China participated in the seventh contest qualifiers.
