The Symposium on Cultural Differences between China and Western Countries and Career Planning

On the afternoon of April 20th, 2012, Ms Chen Zaiyi, an alumna of Grade 77 was invited to a symposium on cultural difference between China and the Western countries and career planning, which was held at Conference Room 4502.

The symposium was hosted by Li Liangchen, Chairman of school Affairs Committee. Ms Chen shared with the undergraduates of the school her twenty years’ life experience in America, made a comparison on cultural traditions between China and America, and gave some advice on how to make career decision. She encouraged the students to choose the careers they were interested in. The audience were impressed by her humorous and eloquent speech and then had a heated discussion with her, centering on career planning and overseas studies. Originally scheduled for one hour, the symposium lasted two and half hours. It wound up with the audience’s warm applause.

Ms Chen Zaiyi majored in English in the school for her bachelor’s degree during the years of 1977-1982, and obtained her master’s degree on MBA from Portland State University (Oregon, US). Now she is working in the Bonneville power administration, US.
