Ding Yuwen from School of Foreign Languages Wins 3rd Prize of Chinese Japanese Speech Contest in South China

The 6th Chinese National Japanese Speech Contest in South China opens in SYSU on May 7, 2011. This contest is extremely competitive. Participants of the contests included Japanese speech masters from SYSU, GDUFS, Xiamen University and other universities in five provinces of South China. Under the leadership of Jia Haiping, the head of Japanese Department, after several rounds of selection and rigorous screening, Ding Yuwen, a junior Japanese major, eventually won the chance to participate in the contest on behalf of SCUT.

In the prepared speech, Ding did not follow the traditional “standing as pine” speech style, but gave a serious and passionate “interactive speech” with decent body language and humor which impressed the audience. In the later impromptu speech, Ding won warm applause of audience with her peaceful mind and fluent language, finally gets the 3rd prize.

After the contest, Xu Jinlong, professor of Foreign Literature Institute of CASS and Pro Wang Zhixin, jury president of the contest invited Ding to take a photo. We sincerely hope that students of our school will make further progress and win more honor in the future .(By Japanese Department)
