The Final Contest of the Third “English Stars” Ends successfully

On the evening of April 17, 2011, the Final Contest of the third “English Stars”, organized by School of Foreign Languages, School of Machinery and Car Engineering and Graduate Union, was held in Shaw Science Building magnificently. Zhang Weijie, leader from School of Foreign Languages, as well as leaders from other departments, attended this activity. Honorable judges were teachers from School of Foreign Languages and two foreign teachers, Mary Brown and Gray Brown.

The contest consisted of three rounds: short play, dubbing films in English, and impromptu speech. These three rounds aimed at testing students’ English fluency and speech skills. The theme of the contest was “Gelivable” which came from the Chinese characters-“Geili”.

The contestants did well during the competition. They not only showed their outstanding English competence, but also their excellent acting skills. The judges gave wonderful remarks to them. In the end, two contestants from School of Foreign Languages won awards. Bai Gele, with her authentic British accent, got the “Best Pronunciation” award.(By Meijuan Huang)
