The Program aims to foster all-round graduates with a high level of knowledge and ability in the English language. Graduates will be able to show a solid grounding in linguistic, literary and cultural aspects of contemporary English and to communicate effectively in English at a high level. They will have the ability to apply their knowledge of contemporary English, science and technology, business and trade, law, and computer application, to the English communication needs of various fields.
Besides the core courses in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education, including Intensive Reading; Extensive Reading; English Listening; Oral English; Advanced English; Pronunciation; Applied Writing Skills; Survey of English and American Literature and Selected Readings; Translation Theories and Techniques; Aspects of Western Civilization; Introduction to Linguistics; Film Appreciation; Chinese-English Oral Interpretation; Selected Journalistic Readings; International Trade & Business; Communications; Japanese; German; the program also offers fundamental courses in science and engineering, including Advanced Mathematics, Computer Applications, Statistics, Economics, Mechanics, etc., in order to add a touch of science and engineering to the language background of the graduates giving them an additional edge in the employment market.
The program prepares students for work in various fields, such as governmental organizations, state-run enterprises, renowned multi-national companies, enterprises with foreign investment, foreign trade and economic offices, institutions in higher education, libraries, science and technology information research bodies, banks and securities businesses, insurance companies, mass media organizations, press and publishing houses, etc.

The core courses offered are Basic Japanese; Advanced Japanese; Intensive Reading; Extensive Reading; Japanese Listening; Oral Japanese; Oral Interpretation; Japanese Writing; Chinese-Japanese Translation; Business Japanese; An Introduction to the Japanese Language; An Survey of Japan; Second Foreign Language; Advanced Mathematics, Computer Applications, International Trade & Business; Laws, etc.

The students study at university for 5 years. They work in a four-year program for a first major in science or technology or business or law, etc. and then work in a one-year program in SFL for English as a second major. In this way they get double B.A.
