Notice on the evaluation of 2021 National Scholarship for Doctoral Students and President's Scholarship of the School of Environment and Energy

To whom it may concern,

  According to the Implementation Measures for the Reform of The Doctoral Student Funding System of SOUTH China University of Technology (Trial) (South China Institute of Technology (2019) No. 4) and the Implementation Measures for the Evaluation of president's Scholarship and National Scholarship of South China University of Technology (Trial) (South China Institute of Technology (2019) No. 14), the relevant evaluation items are hereby notified to ensure a fair and legit evaluation of 2021 National Doctoral Scholarship and President's Scholarship of our University.

  1. Candidates Qulification

  a. All full-time research students who are included in the National Graduate Enrollment Plan and have the nationality of the People's Republic of China within the duration of schooling; Students who have graduated after the extended period of schooling cannot participate in the national scholarship; Note: Ph.D. students prior to class 2018 (including class 2018) are eligible for the President's Scholarship within the first year of deferred graduation, but not eligible for the President's Scholarship after one year of deferred graduation.

  b. Direct doctoral students, master/doctoral students, master/doctoral students, master/doctoral students; 

  c. Doctoral candidates must register and register within the specified time before they are qualified for the evaluation. 

  2. Scholarship allocation and bonus payment

  a. The University will determine the 2021 National Doctoral Scholarship and President's Scholarship quota for each school (department) according to the number of scholarship applicants and graduate cultivation performance of each school (department) in 2021. The list of winners will be determined by the school (department) and submitted to the University for approval. For details about the quota allocation for each school (department), see the Quota Allocation Table for 2021 National Doctoral Scholarship and President's Scholarship (Appendix 1).

  b. Ph.D. candidates who have been awarded a National scholarship are also automatically awarded the President's Scholarship, but only in the amount of the National Scholarship. This implies the national scholarship and the President's Scholarship can be combined, but the award is not repeated. A certificate of honor for both awards is awarded to Ph.D. students who have received both the President's Scholarship and the National Scholarship.

  c. For Ph.D. students who have won the scholarship, the prize money will be awarded according to the following criteria:

   (i) Ph.D. students starting from grade 2019: Those who have won both the national scholarship and the president's Scholarship from their research assistant positions, or those who have only won the president's scholarship but have not won the national scholarship, will be given a one-time bonus of 30,000 yuan on the basis of the scholarship standard for research assistant positions (58,200 Yuan/year); 

   (ii) Ph.D. students who have won both the national scholarship and the President's Scholarship from the teaching assistant post will be given a one-off bonus of 30,000 yuan based on the teaching assistant post scholarship standard (66,000 yuan/year); 

   (iii)Ph.D. students who only win the president's scholarship but not the national scholarship from the teaching assistant post will be given a one-time bonus of 22,200 yuan on the basis of the teaching assistant post scholarship standard (66,000 yuan/year);

   (iv) For doctoral students prior to grade 2018 (including grade 2018), a one-time bonus of 30,000 yuan will be awarded to those who have won both the National scholarship and the President's Scholarship, or who have only won the President's Scholarship but not the National scholarship.

  3. Assessment conditions and assessment organization

  The specific evaluation conditions and organization work of the National Doctoral scholarship and president's Scholarship are determined by each school (department). See Appendix 2.

  4. Review procedures

  a. Applicants should fill out the graduate student and national scholarship/principal scholarship application form and the graduate student national scholarship/President scholarship award student list summary table. Appendix 2, 3, 4 should be printed on A4 paper. A copy of the print and electronic form, along with the related certificate of the electronic and print, should be submitted to: 445496290@qq.com before October 8. Documents not named as required (grade + name + scholarship + contact information) will be deemed as not received. Please submit the paper copy to Mr. Zhong Junjie in office B4-208. Late submission (paper version + electronic version) and incomplete materials will be regarded as abandoned applications!!

  b. The graduate Grant Working Group of the School will review the application materials.

  c. The Student Affairs Department (Office) and graduate School jointly review the list of winners of national scholarship and President's Scholarship determined by each school (department), and submit the final list of winners to the head of the school for approval. The list of winners is publicized throughout the university after 5 working day.

  d. The list of national scholarship winners shall be submitted to the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Education shall make the award certificate; The principal's Scholarship certificate will be issued by the school.

  e. Applicants who have objections to the results can appeal to the Graduate Grant Working group of their school (department) in the publicity stage, and the Graduate Grant Working group of their school (department) should reply accordingly. If objections still exist based on the reply of the school (department), the applicant can submit a ruling to the Student Affairs Department (department) in the publicity stage of the school.

  5. Submission of materials

  The school should submit the following materials to the Student Financial Aid Center (Room 1126-2, Building 1) of the Student Affairs Department (Office) before October 20th:

  a. All units should make careful arrangements for the evaluation of national Scholarship and the president's Scholarship for doctoral students.

  b. All application materials are valid until August 31, 2021, and the results of the National Scholarship and president's Scholarship cannot be reused (that is, the results of the national scholarship and president's Scholarship can not be reused in the application of national scholarship or President's Scholarship).

  c. Ph.D. students who are awarded either the National Doctoral Scholarship or the President's Scholarship cannot participate in endowed scholarship at the same time (unless there are special requirements for endowed scholarship).

  d. All participating students shall ensure the authenticity of the scholarship materials. If any academic fraud or repeated use of academic achievements is found, the student will be disqualified from this year's award evaluation.
