Prof. Zou and others have showed that the effect of elevated temperature on the growth and photosynthesis of G.lemaneiformis was greater than that of atmospheric CO2 concentration. Under the greenhouse effect (the synergistic effect of temperature rise of 4oC and the increase of atmospheric CO2 level), the growth rate of G. lemaneiformis was the highest over the other conditions (the temperature rise of 4oC alone, or the alone increase of atmospheric CO2 level). It is suggested that the sustained climate change (elevated atmospheric CO2 concentration and ocean surface temperature) is conducive to the production and carbon storage capacity of G. lemaneiformis.
