Prof. Qin Yujie shows that the coupling of anammox and sulfur autotrophic denitrification can occur under different N/S ratios. When N/S ratio changed, no obvious nitrite accumulation was found, with sulfide being completely removed in the whole operation process. When the N/S ratio is less than 1, the accumulation of S⁰ occurs. When the N/S ratio was 2.38, the total nitrogen (TN) removal rate reaches the highest level (82.8%). The technology can be applied to the treatment of industrial wastewater containing ammonia nitrogen and sulfide.
