Event Review | Fun Classroom Volunteer Activity

                               

Fun Classroom is a volunteer activity organized by the Youth Volunteer Department and Youth Volunteer Service Team of the School of Telecommunications for many years. It aims to prepare a series of fun and educational courses from the perspective of college students in the new era, helping children to broaden their thinking, broaden their horizons, and grow happily.

The organization of the Fun Classroom cannot be separated from the active consultation and cooperation between the surrounding communities of South China University of Technology and us. This time, we visited the Changzhou Street Social Work Service Station and had two weekends of fun learning and happy play with the children in the community, totaling eight classes!

The teaching target of the small class is children in grades one to three. The selection of course themes and the production of content are carefully discussed by the group members. While attracting children's interest, it can also teach them certain knowledge. 

1、 Psychological Handicraft Group

The first class is a psychology class - 'Where is Time'. Xiu Xiu first used situational deduction to encourage children to think about 'where is time' and introduce the concept of time. Next, Sister Guoguo set up a time game to let the children feel the passage of time. Then Brother Zhengtong and the children completed a small experiment together, telling them to strive to be the time masters. At the end of the class, the siblings hope that the children can develop their cognitive ability towards time through this lesson, so that they can understand and cherish time.

The second class is a handicraft class. After a brief introduction to various types of leaves, we started the handicraft class about leaves.Sister Guoguo taught the children how to make stickers and bookmarks, and the resulting bookmarks are both beautiful and practical. Brother Feiyangyang led the children to make leaf butterflies, allowing them to fully unleash their imagination. Xiu Xiu led the children to make jars for collecting fallen leaves, in order to preserve autumn. In the final class summary, Xiuxiu took the children to reminisce about this class together, hoping that the children could use their hands and brains more, and explore their own hands-on abilities and creativity.            

2、 Hand Shadow Vocal Group            

The first session is a hand shadow class, in which Sister Xiao Ai introduced various shadow plays to the children and attracted them with vivid and interesting videos. Then, Brother Fei Yangyang and Sister Tu Tu taught the children various hand shadow movements from easy to difficult, and finally completed the demonstration under the guidance of Brother Hamburg. The children all did a great job. In the classroom, children gain a deeper understanding of shadow puppetry, learn about traditional Chinese culture, and experience the mysteries and fun of it.

The second class is vocal music. Sister Rabbit plays various sounds from daily life, while the children explore the sounds of nature, beautiful music, and traditional instruments, playing vocal music and gaining happiness. Xiao Ai played rhythm games with her children, using her body to create notes and rhythms, and following the music to create beats. Hamburger Brother leads children to experience the emotions conveyed by music and appreciate the meaning of the lyrics through song by song. In class, the children learned about different traditional musical instruments, hoping that they would understand that music is everywhere in life and feel the wonders of the music world.            

3、 Traditional Culture Handicraft Group            

The first class will explain ancient etiquette to the children. First, Sister Snowflake introduced the children to the bowing ceremony, bowing ceremony, bowing ceremony, and holding ceremony. Next, Sister Xiaoyi briefly introduced the concept of respect and humility, and also set up a scenario performance to immerse the children in learning and apply it. Finally, Huohuo Brother gave a classroom summary to the children, emphasizing the important significance of ancient etiquette for the inheritance of traditional culture in our country. I hope that children can absorb the influence of this traditional culture lesson, cultivate the excellent character of respecting etiquette and valuing morality, and cherish and inherit the excellent traditional culture of our country.            

In the second class, I led the children to complete the production of a paper lantern. Huohuo Brother first introduced the traditional meaning of lanterns to the children. After a brief introduction, Sister Xiaoyi led the children step by step to complete the handmade production of paper lanterns.Two children form a group and work together according to the steps introduced by Sister Xiaoyi to make two paper lanterns. Finally, Sister Snowflake will summarize the class and affirm the handmade works of each child. We hope that children can further experience the charm of traditional culture through handmade crafts.            

4、 Auction experimental group            

The first class is an experimental class. Brother Zixin first introduced everyone to what atmospheric pressure is, and based on this principle, successfully made a simple fountain in class. Next was the secret letter experiment prepared by Sister Bell, in which every child participated and even prepared their own secret letter for their parents. Finally, Teacher Zikang sparked the curiosity of the children with an ancient story and together they made a beautiful rainbow cup, which taught them physics knowledge such as density. In the classroom, the children not only conducted experiments with their own hands to exercise their hands-on abilities, but also learned various knowledge through interesting experiments.

The second class is an auction class. The little teachers lead the children to obtain various valuable cultural relics on Earth through auction to prevent them from falling into the hands of bad people. During the auction process, children actively participated and expressed their opinions on different cultural relics and artworks, winning items they liked or believed to have extraordinary significance. In the classroom, not only did the children experience the joy of the auction process, but it also stimulated their interest and awareness of protecting these cultural relics and artworks.            

In the 'fun classroom', fun and knowledge coexist. The fun hand shadow class brought children a magical visual feast; Creative handicraft classes showcase the endless imagination and creativity of children;The tense and exciting auction class showed us the vitality and energy of the children.Through these interesting classroom contents, volunteers and children no longer have a generation gap of age, play together, and establish sincere friendships with each other. This "fun classroom" is not only a transmission of knowledge and joy, but also a wonderful journey of happiness and growth, and a happy and beautiful memory!
