The Electronic and Information Experiment Teaching Sub-Center

1. Sub-centeroverview

Established inFebruary 1999, The Electronic and Information Experiment Teaching Sub-Center isunder the management of the School of Electronics and Information, and is oneof the sub-centers under the National Demonstration Center for ExperimentalTeaching of Electrical Information and Control. In addition to providing servicesfor the information engineering major of the School of Electronics andInformation, the center also serves the automation, electronic materials andother 6 majors.

The center aimsto cultivate innovative talents with high-quality engineering capabilities, builton the following principles: engineering as the direction, scientific researchas support, and industry direction as guidance. The center currently has 11 sub-laboratories.The teaching laboratory area is 1,570 square meters, and the total value of theexperimental teaching equipment is 22.87 million yuan. There are 16 full-timeexperimental technicians, including 8 with associate senior titles, 8 with intermediatetitles, 3 doctors and 11 masters. Its main task is to offer experimentalcourses for undergraduates of related majors, on average annually providingservice for 32 experimental courses, 162 experimental projects and 15,000 person-hours,while also providing service for graduation projects, student innovationprojects, student research plans, other extracurricular projects and scientificresearch services for related teachers. With continuous transformation andconstruction, the experimental environment and equipment conditions areconstantly improved according to the development of experimental teaching andrelated disciplines, and the design and content of experimental courses have becomemore reasonable and advanced. Integrated experiments, innovative experimentsand new experimental courses are constantly developed. Characteristic coursessuch as project-based teaching and exploratory experimental teaching, RFcircuit experiment courses, communication electronic circuit experiment courses, embedded system design, electronic technology experiment courses are all energeticallycarried out.

The centerclosely follows the frontiers of the world’s technological developments, actively collaborating with well-known enterprises, domestic and abroad, tobuild laboratories, including the South China University of Technology-AlteraSOPC / DSP Joint Laboratory and Training Center, South China University ofTechnology-AltiumEDA Joint Laboratory and Training Center, South China Universityof Technology-FreeScale Embedded Joint Laboratory, Huawei Information andNetwork Technology Institute Innovative Talent Center, TexasInstrument Semiconductor Technology (Shanghai) co., LTD., Guangdong CollegeStudents Electronic Design Competition Training Base, and so on.

The teachers ofthe center actively participate in national, provincial and university levelteaching and research projects, horizontal scientific research projects,Guangdong Provincial college students innovation experiment projects, studentresearch projects, etc., and publish papers, teaching materials and patents inthree indexes and core journals, with remarkable achievements. Under thecultivation of the center, many students have won first prize in national andprovincial competitions, illustrating the center’s great achievements instudent training. The self-made equipment was promoted in South ChinaAgricultural University and Sun Yat-sen University, and won much praise.
