Another Record High! Eight of Our Faculty Members Were Selected for Elsevier's 2023 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers List

On March 27, 2024, Elsevier released the list of 2023 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers. Eight professors from our college were selected, including Quan Xue, Qingxin Chu, Wenquan Che, Xiayin Zhang, Jie Tang, Wenjie Feng, Yongmei Pan and Miaowen Wen. The number breaks the record compared to seven last year.


A total of 61 professors from South China University of Technology were selected, ranking 22nd among all universities in China. Our college rose in the ranking of the number of selected professors in the whole university, which is much higher than the average level of the university.


  Elsevier's Highly Cited Chinese Researchers list uses Scopus, the world's authoritative citation and indexing database, as the statistical source of Chinese scholars' research achievements, and analyzes the performance of Chinese scholars' research achievements using the methodology developed by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. Highly Cited Chinese Researchers of 2023 list has a total of 5,801 scholars from 496 universities, enterprises and scientific research institutes, covering 10 subject areas and 84 first-level disciplines of the Ministry of Education. The list systematically shows the distribution of talents in China's scientific research field, and accurately presents the dominant disciplines composition and academic influence of each institution and university, as well as the top talents in key technology researches and key areas. Selection to the Elsevier Highly Cited Scholars list indicates that the total number of citations of the scholar's papers published as the first and corresponding authors is at the top level among all researchers in the discipline in China.
