Professor Quan Xue's team Won the Gold Award in the Start-up Group of the "2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area High-Value Patent Cultivation Layout Competition"

Information at South China University of Technology won the gold medal in the start-up group of the 2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area High-Value Patent Cultivation Layout Competition.The participating team members include Quan Xue, Wenquan Che, Yunfei Cao, Shaowei Liao, Haoshen Zhu, Wenjie Feng, Xiang Yi, Pei Qin, Kun Tang, and Ge Sun.

 

The new generation of mobile communication and high-precision radar are the pillars and strategic fields of a country, and millimeter wave technology is the key technology.The team has conducted systematic and original research on millimeter wave transceiver chips and millimeter wave wide-angle scanning antenna arrays, focusing on the important challenges of millimeter wave chips, antennas, and phased array front-end systems in the new generation of mobile communication.The team has achieved internationally competitive intellectual property achievements in core chips such as frequency sources, phase shifters, and millimeter wave antennas, and has developed an integrated phased array front-end system based on self-developed transceiver chips, completing communication business and performance demonstration verification.By setting up joint laboratories with leading enterprises and conducting horizontal project research, the team further transforms important research results into technology.The team has applied over 100 invention patents from multiple dimensions (including more than 10 US patents), covering the entire chain of antennas, chips, and systems, forming a good intellectual property layout, laying a solid foundation for further promoting technology transformation for the future.

The Competition has been held for the fifth time since 2019.It is jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation (Intellectual Property Office), the Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Economic and Technological Development Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, and relevant municipal governments at or above the prefecture level in Guangdong province, abbreviated as the Bay High Competition. The theme of this year's competition is Strengthening the layout of high-value patent cultivation and empowering the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. This year's Bay High Competition has more than 800 projects participating. After the preliminary and final rounds, the list of Double Top 100 and Top 100 projects were elected, and the gold, silver, and excellent awards were elected in the final selection.
