Students of our college made great achievements in the Invitational Competition of Embedded System of the Intel Cup College Students Electronic Design Competition

On August 10, the invitational competition of Embedded System of the Intel Cup College Students Electronic Design Competition came to an end, and two representative works of our college have achieved excellent results:the work of Multi-modal 3D scene Semantic Mapping and Intelligent Inspection Robot completed by three undergraduates Chen Ketong, Chen Yancheng and Gu Zhipeng won the national first prize, Intelligent Running Strategy Planning System for Students by Xing Jingyuan, Wu Honghao and Xu Weixin won the third prize.

 

The invitational competition of Embedded System of the Intel Cup College Students Electronic Design Competitionis co-sponsored by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and the Department of Personnel Education of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.It aims to promote the reform of curriculum system and curriculum content of information and electronic subjects, promote the implementation of quality education in colleges, and improve the cultivation of students' innovative ability. This competition began in 2002. It is held every two years, and this yearmarks the its 20th anniversary.The theme of this year's competition is Artificial intelligence + AI-supported Machine Deep Learning System + Edge Computing. A total of 133 teams from 65 high-level universities in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Brazil and the United States were invited.After preliminary selection and regional competition, 33 teams have entered the national review process.From August 8 to 9, 2022, the national expert group strictly reviewed those works and selected 1 team of Intel Cup winners, 8 teams of first prize, 18 teams of second prize and 42 teams of third prize.

The national first prize work Multi-modal 3D Scene Semantic Mapping and Intelligent Inspection Robot integrates multi-modal sensor data to conduct 3D semantic dense mapping of the scene, so as to realize the robot intelligent inspection of abnormal conditions in the scene and search for unknown targets.The project results can play an important role in many application scenarios, such as high-precision drawing of automatic mapping,investigation of building safety hazards and the daily inspection of complex scenes such as factory workshops and exhibition halls. Intelligent Running Strategy Planning System for Students  integrates sports training knowledge graph and expert system to analyze the user's heart rate and pace when running, and output personalized training program to achieve better fitness purpose.

During the competition, the teams give full play to the subject advantages of electronic information.Under the guidance of mentors,they selected projects for practical problems,solved problems based on artificial intelligence and embedded edge computing technology, overcame a series of difficulties and completed the final entries with high quality.The team's work report, on-site display and defense performance have been unanimously recognized by the experts, showing to the whole society the solid and excellent knowledge and skills of our students and their enterprising spirit.
