The South China Division Finals of The 2nd National Undergraduate Integrated Circuit Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was Successfully Held at South China University of Technology

   July 19 to 20, 2018, the South China Division Finals of The 2nd National Undergraduate Integrated Circuit Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was successfully held at South China University of Technology. The competition was hosted by the Talent Exchange Center of MIIT, organized by the School of Electronics and Information, South China University of Technology, and co-organized by Guangzhou Semiconductor Association and Guangzhou Keith Fund Management co., Ltd. The competition attracted 42 teams from 11 universities in South China including South China University of Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong University of Technology, Shenzhen University and Xiamen University etc. The contest involved 10 topics, such as IEEE Engineering Star Cup, Huawei Cloud Cup, UNISOC Cup, Pango Cup, Zhongtian Cup, Vimicro Cup, ADI Cup, ARM Cup, NI Cup, Design and Application Entrepreneurship Cup.

After a tough final, a total of 31 teams won the prize. Among the 8 teams that won the first prize, South China University of Technology has 5 teams, and the rest of 3 were divided equally by Sun Yat-sen University, Fuzhou university and Shenzhen university.

The award ceremony was followed by the competition. It was attended by the following leaders: Guo Chutao, deputy director of the Information Industry Department, Industry and Information Technology Commission of Guangzhou Municipality, Chen Yan, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Electronics and Information, South China University of Technology, Professor Xue Quan, dean of the school, Professor Li Bin, associate dean. Professor Zhang Xingming, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Office, Wang Wei, director of Integrated Circuit Talents Office, Education and Training Center of the Talent Exchange Center of MIIT, Chen Wei, President of the Guangzhou Semiconductor Association and Qu Jingman, the general manager of Guangzhou Keith Fund Management co., Ltd etc. Xue Quan and Chen Wei addressed on the ceremony. Our country attaches great importance to the development of the IC industry, which has an urgent need of high-quality innovative talents. The success of this competition has promoted the innovation and entrepreneurship education of integrated circuit talents in the universities. The integration of competition and learning has promoted the exploration of the Integration of Production-Learning-Research to cultivate talents.

In addition, the organizers activated enterprises to introduce their business, and to make talents cultivation meet the corporations’ needs. Furthermore, the organizers invited students to take a visit to the enterprises, which enhanced the communication between students and companies.
