Automation is a National First-Class Specialty, National Featured Specialty, Guangdong Famous Specialty and Guangdong Featured specialty. It has passed the Engineering Education Accreditation of China Engineering Education Accreditation Association, and has a history over 60 years. The program duration is 4 years, and students are awarded bachelor of engineering degree after graduation.

The Automation Major integrates the knowledge and technology of automatic control, computer, electronic technology and information processing technology, and the students study the basic engineering knowledge of control technology, computer software and hardware technology, electrical and electronic technology, network technology, information processing, system engineering and other related knowledge. The goal of the specialty is to cultivate high-caliber automation technology and engineering talents who are engaged in the research, design, development, application and management of industrial control systems and integrated automation, automation equipment and instruments, artificial intelligence and robots, intelligent information technology and other automation related systems.
