Peng Changxin is a Professor of South China University of Technology School of Architecture who is one of China’s leading specialists in the study of Lingnan architecture – referring to a style of architecture popular in the Southeast China region which includes Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Fujian, Hong Kong and Macau. Dr. Peng obtained his PH. D. at South China University of Technology in 2004 and worked as a professional architect in the Design Institute of Huiyang from 1990 to 1996 before taking up his post at Guangzhou University in 2005. His articles on Lingnan architecture have been widely published in academic journals and in 2012 he published his book  titled “ Modernity and Locality: The Modern Transformation of Lingnan Architect”. He was awarded Desiree and Hans Michael Jebsen Fellowship by Asian Cultural Council in 2012 to travel to U.S. As a visiting scholar at University of Virginia School of Architecture, he conducted research on a group of late 19th and early 20th century American architects who has influenced the development of modern Chinese architecture.
