Brief introduction:
Dr Jonathan Hale is an architect, Associate Professor & Reader in Architectural Theory at the University of Nottingham, UK. His research interests include: architectural theory and criticism; Phenomenology and the philosophy of technology; the relationship between architecture and the body; digital media in museums and architectural exhibitions. He has published books, chapters, refereed articles and conference papers in most of these areas and received grants from the EPSRC, the Leverhulme Trust, British Academy, and the Arts Council. He also acts as coordinator for the Department’s Architectural Humanities Research Group (AHRG) and is the founder and a current Steering Group member of the international subject network: Architectural Humanities Research Association (AHRA). He is also the author of Building Ideas: An Introduction to Architectural Theory (Wiley, 2000) and co-editor of Rethinking Technology: A Reader in Architectural Theory (Routledge, 2005).
