Research field:
With a background in urban geography, urban planning and architecture, I focus on the Chinese rural land-use change in resent years. While most of the research in this field in China concentrate on the land institution issues and take a top-down point of view, my research is a rather bottom-up investigation and studies more of the peasant’s reaction to the land institution.

During the research, each team will report their progress every week and discuss about their research in the course.

I need to contact local government and planning design institutes to get a master plan project for the course. I will give several lectures on the principals of this kind of planning, then arrange and instruct the whole planning process, which includes site investigation, meeting with local government and communities, discuss with planning authorities, scheme design, cooperate with other professionals, present the final scheme, etc.

  In
n my doctoral research “Space Transition of Jiaozhong Village - Researches on the Land-Use and Land-Ownership Change of a Village in PRD”, I participated the life of a self-promoted industrialized village - JiaozhongVillage to observe and study its space transition based on its land-use change and land-ownership change. The analysis is focus on the space-related acts under certain socio-economic structure by both internal people (peasants families and village collective) and external people (business and government personnel). The research try to figure out an integral express and explanation of a community’s space transition from an internal people’s point of view, and provide an explanation for this specific type of space transition through a description of a dualism process: capitalization and structuration.
  In
n “Research on The Policy to Promote Peasants’ concentrate residence in Huadu District, Guangzhou”, the urban planning and land policy that is related to this issue is investigated, some concentrate modes are discussed and compared. Both the social and economical way to encourage the concentration are considered.
