His research mainly focuses on Lingnan (a subtropical region of south China in the south of Nanling Mountains) architecture and garden design theories and practices. Lingnan modern architecture and garden design practices have a unique position and influence in Chinese modern architectural history. In this field he has published 9 papers (including co-thesis). His work in this area was supported by the open fund of State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science, Philosophy and Social Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, Humanities and Social Sciences Funds of Educational Department of Guangdong Province. In addition, he was also involved in the two relevant research projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation.
 
He has been responsible for and involved in more than 20 design projects, including planning and building design projects of residential, hotel, museum and five schools. He accumulated rich experience in the design practices, and integrated his practices closely with architectural teaching. Currently, he is busy at the design of Canton Opera Museum which will be finished in September 2015. This project located in the old town of Guangzhou city. He and his collaborators explored the possibilities of combining the traditional garden space and exhibition space of local opera art, and try to resurrect the folk architectural decoration crafts which were identified as intangible cultural heritage by the government.
 
He has ever been the director of architectural design course for the fourth grade (2008-2012). In the past few years, he was involved in Building Materials and Construction course for the fourth grade and Architectural Design Course for the second grade, and participated in the graduation design guidance every year. The student teams under his guidance had got awards in different kinds of national student architectural design competition for many times.
 

As Deputy Head of Architectural Department, he is responsible for the daily teaching management. He is in charge of a teaching project supported by the school office of academic affairs, which aims at optimizing the experimental teaching system of architectural design. Active and effective work earned him a number of teaching awards, including the second prize of 2014 National Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards and the first prize of 2013 Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards of Guangdong Province (the fourth participant).
