Introduction:

Dr. Meng Qinglin, was born in October 1963. He received his Bachelor degree in heat delivery and ventilation from Jilin University of Architecture in 1985 and studied architectural technology at Chongqing University of Architecture, where he earned a Master degree. In 1995 he received his Ph.D. from Chongqing University of Architecture and joined the School of Architecture faculty. Prof. Meng was promoted as associate professor in 1997 and became a professor in 2001. He has been a supervisor of doctorate and master-degree candidates since 2003. He also served as senior visiting researcher of Tsinghua University.
As the Deputy Dean of the School of Architecture, South China University of Technology, Prof. Meng has been responsible for graduate programs and laboratories. He also severs as director of Centre for Energy Conservation Studies, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Architecture Science. He is a member of International Society of the Built Environment, Architecture Energy Conservation Committee of the China Construction Industry Association, Centre for Energy Conservation Studies committee of China Construction Industry Association, physical architecture branch of China Architecture Society, Eco-city and new town construction science committee of china urban planning society, and Physical architecture branch of Guangdong Building Society. He serves as deputy director of Architecture thermal power and Energy Conservation Studies committee, reader of Building and Environment Journal, and associate editor of the first editorial committee of Tropical Architecture Journal.
Prof. Meng has engaged in the research of tropical and sub-tropical energy efficiency studies and building thermal environment for many years. As a project manager, he has completed 2 State Natural Sciences Foundation Projects, 2 programs supported by Natural Sciences Foundation of Guangdong, and 1 project supported by science research foundation of Guangdong archives Bureau. Prof. Meng‘s current research projects includes 1 program supported by Projects of International Cooperation and Exchanges NSFC,1 key project sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 key break through project among the primary fields in the Guangzhou-Hongkong region,1 project sponsored by ministry construction, 1 construct technology project of Guangdong,1 project of Guanghzhou construction committee,2 projects of Guangzhou office wall material and architecture energy conservation. Some of his research achievements have been put into practice. The projects of New Guangdong archives and Huiyang archives were built based on his research of building wall thermal transfer moderation. The results of architectural shading research which he took responsibility for was applied in the construction of Yifu human science building. Prof. Meng has developed the thermophysical model of porous material passive evaporative cooling under hot humid climate controlling.He put forward the concepts of vaporising heat transfer coefficient and generalized artificial Temperature. He has published 1 book and more than 60 papers. He also holds 3 utility model patents.
