Introduction:

In 1968, he graduated from Civil Engineering Department of Tsinghua University. He got master and doctor degree of South China University of Technology respectively in 1982 and 1987. From 1987 to 1989, he studied in Oxford, and was invited to give lectures for nine universities in England foe 15 times. Now he is a professor, doctoral advisor, superintendent of Institute of Oriental Architectural Culture of South China University of Technology, head of Institute of Architectural Culture of South China University of Technology, Academic Committee of State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science, and head of architectural society of China, deputy director of Architectural History Society of China, deputy director of Architectural History Professional Committee of Chinese Society of History of Science and Technology, member of national professional advisory committee of architecture discipline, and chairman of Huazhong Architecture Editorial Committee, Edutorial committee Member of Urban Planning, Planner, Chinese and Overseas Architecture and Chongqing Architecture. He was in charge of several projects including NSFC and Doctoral Fund of Ministry, and published over 180academic papers in domestic and international journals, and issued several monographs including Study on Flood Protection of Chinese Ancient Cities, Guangzhou Architecture, Architectural Philosophy, Idea and Culture, Chinese Military Architecture Art etc, and participated in editing of Chinese National Architecture( chief editor of Guangdong chapter), Chinese Architectural Art History and Guangzhou Encyclopedia etc. He was in charge of architectural culture study, and won the second prize for science and technology progress of Guangdong province. He won 2005 Asia Pacific cultural heritage preservation prize of UNESCO for Foshan Huang Ancestral Hall repair project, and won the first prize for 2007 excellent design project of Guangdong Urban and Rural Planning for Historical Culture Preservation Planning of Cui Heng Village of Zhongshan City
