报告摘要:
Recent developments in van der Waals bilayers with unusual stacking order have seen the emergence of rich correlated and topological quantum phenomena that are otherwise absent in each isolated monolayer. In the first part of the talk, I will talk about our recent theoretical discovery of exotic topological f±if'-wave superconductivity emergent in a maximally twisted double-layer of unconventional yet topologically trivial superconductors. I will discuss its distinctive experimental signatures and its potential for fault-tolerant quantum computing. The second part of the talk is devoted to hidden quantum-geometric effects in sliding ferroelectrics in which the unusual rhombohedral stacking of two non-polar honeycomb monolayers leads to a bilayer with nonzero polarization. I will explain how the origin of the stacking polarization can be understood by the physics of the celebrated Su-Shrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model, and discuss its implications on the materials’ anomalous transport properties.
