On March 18, South China University of Technology (SCUT) and Guangzhou Port Group Co., Ltd. held the signing and unveiling ceremony for the Guangzhou Port-SCUT Joint Laboratory for Port and Shipping Digital Intelligence at the Port Center, followed by an exchange forum. Lin Yiwen, Member of the Party Committee Standing Committee and Vice President of SCUT, Huang Bo, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Guangzhou Port Group, and Feng Hongde, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of the Group, attended the event.

Lin Yiwen introduced SCUT’s development history, disciplinary strengths and scientific research capabilities. He stated that the two parties share a solid foundation for cooperation. Leveraging Guangzhou Port’s abundant application scenarios and practical demands, the collaboration will advance in-depth integration of industry, academia and research, jointly tackle cutting-edge technological challenges in the sector, and build the joint laboratory into a university-enterprise innovation highland. It will also sustainably empower the high-quality development of both sides with intellectual resources.

Huang Bo expressed gratitude to the university for its attention and support in co-founding the laboratory. He elaborated on Guangzhou Port’s strategic positioning, development achievements, scientific and technological innovation outcomes as well as future strategic planning under the Belt and Road Initiative and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
He noted that the cooperation marks a key initiative of Guangzhou Port to respond to national strategies, open up application scenarios, and facilitate the transformation of research achievements into practical applications. Taking the signing as a new starting point, both sides will give full play to their respective advantages. Centering on the one network and four modernizations strategy in the transportation sector as well as the development of smart and green ports, they will focus on AI Plus, vertical domain large models, and the intelligent, digital and integrated upgrading of application scenarios, to accelerate the intelligent and green transformation of Guangzhou Port.

Relevant officials from SCUT’s Office of Scientific Research, Domestic Cooperation Office and School of Software attended the ceremony.
