Biography:
Dr. Lei Yang is currently an associate professor at School of Software Engineering, South China University of Technology (SCUT). Before he joined SCUT in March, 2016, he has been working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he obtained the PhD degree in computer science on May, 2014. His research interest is cloud and edge computing, distributed systems and Internet of Things. He has published over 50 papers in major international journals and conference proceedings including top journals like IEEE TMC, IEEE TC, IEEE TPDS, IEEE TSC, IEEE TCC, ACM TKDD and top conferences like IEEE INFOCOM and IEEE PERCOM. He is directing several research and development projects from both government and industry agencies such National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation and Tencent. He has won 2018 Ministry of Education Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards – Natural Science Award (Second Class), and 2020 IEEE TCCLD Research Innovation Award (Team award). One of his paper is elected as the spotlight paper on IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing. Dr. Yang got M.S. degree in computer science from Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010, and B.S. degree in electronic engineering from Wuhan University in 2007. He has been in Deeds Lab at Technische Universitat Darmstadt, Germany, as a visiting scholar from Nov.2012 to Mar.2013.
