“Century Kapok” is a weekly activity which provides a good opportunity for students to learn from the academic heads, and to catch up with the development of frontier disciplines.
 
“Century Kapok” is one of the Top Ten Campus Cultural Activities of Guangdong. It is an important academics, science and technology activity to carry out the University’s developing strategy, i.e. “to brisk the University by opening up, to promote the University by intellect support, and to upgrade the University by cultural construction”. It aims to create a fine academic atmosphere and to boost scientific and technological innovations. The lectures provide the students with tremendous information of different ideas, languages and cultures.
 
SCUT President Li Yuanyuan spoke highly of “Century Kapok” and has given great support. He said that “Century Kapok” should be international rather than local and that more academicians and scholars both from home and abroad would be invited to have face-to-face talk with the students.
