Steven Wong, the adjunct professor of SMAE gave a lecture on LNG market development. During his presentation, Steven Wong analyzed current hot problems, such as supply-demand situation on global LNG market, LNG price systems, relations between LNG and oil price, between LNG and renewable energy sources, LNG and discharge of CO2, etc.

Steven Wong is Vice President (China LNG market) of the North West Shelf Australian LNG and General Manager for the 25-year LNG supply agreement to Guangdong and two Japanese contracts. He is also an Executive Member of the Australia-China Natural Gas Technology Partnership Fund. He has been an adjunct Professor of South China University of Technology since May 2005.
Steven has a Master of Business Administration in International Business (Monash University), a Master of Engineering Science and a Bachelor of Engineering from University of Melbourne.
He worked as a research engineer for BHP for 5 years from 1981. He then worked for Shell and over the last 23 years, he worked in business planning and various projects in the petrochemicals and downstream oil and gained extensive experience in marketing of pipeline gas and LNG.
He has a deep understanding of China's gas industry, having lived and worked in Beijing from 1998 to 2004. He worked and negotiated with the Chinese Government, the National Oil Companies and gas end-users when involved in the Chuanbei Gas Project and the West to East Pipeline Project. Based in Perth since 2004, he continues to deal with the Chinese in his current role in LNG marketing. He assisted in the implementation of the Australia-China Natural Gas Technology Partnership Fund in 2005.
Steven is a Vice President of the Western Australian Chinese Chamber of Commerce. His interests include travelling, golf, reading, international business affairs, photography, Chinese arts, culture and language. Steven is married and has a son and two daughters.
