Zou Quanyi

Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Journalism and Communication, South China University of Technology (SCUT). He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from SCUT in 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Lu Lu, and has been conducting postdoctoral research (2022–2025) at the School of Journalism and Communication with Prof. Chen Gang as co-supervisor.His research focuses on fake news detection, computational communication, AI-driven news production, news value alignment for large language models, and social computing. He has published more than 10 academic papers, including 7 as first author, and holds 8 granted invention patents and 4 software copyrights. He has authored multiple policy reports on AI and social governance, which have received remarks and acknowledgments from central leadership and related governmental agencies.

 Research Areas

1.News Value Alignment for Large Language Models:

Develops a news value alignment framework and benchmark for LLMs.

Evaluates how major LLMs align with news values in generating news content, commentary, and summaries.Compares the capabilities of different LLMs across various news production tasks.

2.Fake News Detection:

Builds multimodal fake news detection models by aligning and fusing global and local features across text, images, and other modalities.Leverages large language models to simulate professional assessments from journalists and domain experts to enhance detection.

3.AI News Hallucinations:

Constructs evaluation datasets and annotations (including news headlines, summaries, and images) to test hallucinations in AI-generated news.Uses ARG techniques and dedicated test sets to assess and mitigate hallucinations during AI-driven news production.

 4.Computational Communication:

Conducts interdisciplinary research integrating computational methods with journalism and communication.

 Student Recruitment

Our research group is committed to cutting-edge research in journalism and media technologies. We recruit master’s students and Ph.D. students every year, and undergraduates are also welcome to join (contact: zouquanyi@scut.edu.cn).We sincerely welcome motivated students to join our team.
