time: 2025-11-03

On October 30th, Tian Shubin, Vice Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology Journalism and Adjunct Professor at South China University of Technology, was invited to deliver a lecture entitled "From the Internet to AI: The Underlying Logic of the Evolution of the Communication Landscape" to faculty and students of the School of Journalism and Communication at South China University of Technology. The lecture was held in Room 301 of the School, and nearly 100 faculty and students attended.

In his lecture, Professor Tian provided an in-depth analysis of the underlying logic behind the evolution of the communication landscape from the Internet era to the AI era. He pointed out that the Internet, as the previous generation operating system, disrupted traditional channels through decentralization and socialization, constructing a new ecosystem centered on platforms. The AI era represents a leap forward; as a new generation of social operating system, AI's core value shifts to "generation and action". It is no longer a tool, but a "partner" or "worker" capable of understanding intentions and executing tasks, driving changes in the underlying logic of content production, distribution, and interaction. Professor Tian emphasized that in the face of this shift, we must enhance our understanding, overcome Internet path dependence, actively address challenges such as the intelligence divide, organizational restructuring, and cross-cultural breakthroughs, and grasp the future within the new ecosystem shaped by AI through human-machine collaboration.

During the Q&A session, faculty and students actively asked questions on topics such as the connotation and practice of AI thinking, the possibility of AI systems as future operating systems, and the collaborative relationship between humans and AI. Professor Tian suggested that young scholars should proactively cultivate the cognitive ability to "master intelligence rather than be mastered by it", pay attention to developing critical, and achieve continuous cognitive evolution in the intelligent era with their solid professional foundation and independent thinking ability.

This lecture provided faculty and students with systematic insights into the underlying logic of intelligent communication. Moving forward, the school will continue to advance cutting-edge explorations of "intelligent communication and the integration of arts and sciences", and further deepen exchanges and cooperation with industry and academia.
