Recently, the "2024 University Journalism Awards" ceremony, hosted by China Daily, was held at Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (Zhuhai). More than 300 guests, including university faculty and students, industry experts, and media representatives, attended the ceremony. Students from our college performed exceptionally well in the competition, winning the championship in the Best News Reporting (Chinese) category, the championship in the Best News Writing (Chinese) category, and the third place in the Best Data Journalism (Chinese) category .
In his address, Hong Kong SAR Deputy Secretary for Administration Cheuk Wing-hing expressed his hope that all students would fully demonstrate the innovative spirit of young people, not only exert influence in mainstream media, but also effectively utilize emerging media tools that they are good at, so as to become a vital force in the journalism industry in the future and write a brilliant chapter of the times for realizing the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Zhou Li, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Daily and Editor-in-Chief of its Hong Kong edition, hopes that journalism students will become versatile individuals adaptable to the rapidly changing media environment, ensuring accuracy and fairness in their reporting while upholding journalistic ethics, and possessing a deep understanding of social responsibility. He looks forward to everyone working together to safeguard the social significance and value of journalism, maintaining an enduring passion for news, and bravely embracing the challenges of each new era.

Since its inception in 2012, the University Journalism Award has become an important platform for journalism and media students to showcase their talents. Our faculty and students actively prepare for the competition, continuously submitting outstanding works, and have achieved excellent results in the China Daily University Journalism Award for many consecutive years, demonstrating the college's remarkable achievements in journalism education.
