On December 28, the School of Journalism and Communication at South China University of Technology held its 2023 Annual Work Report Meeting in Room B9-301. The meeting was attended by the school’s leadership and all faculty members.
During the meeting, awards were presented to faculty members who demonstrated exceptional performance in teaching and research in 2023. After thorough evaluation, the following awards were announced:

Teaching Excellence Awards:
First Prize: Associate Prof. Chen Xi
Second Prize: Associate Prof. Zhou Yu and Prof. Li Mei
Third Prize: Prof. She Shihong, Lecturer Ming Zongfeng, and Associate Prof. Zhang Luyuan

Research Excellence Awards:
First Prize: Prof. Rui Jian
Second Prize: Prof. Li Mei, Prof. Hu Bing, and Postdoctoral Fellow Zhang Huan
Third Prize: Professors Li Xiaohua, Zhao Hong, Chu Dong’ai, Duan Chunlin, Zhang Buzhong, and Associate Prof. Zhang Luyuan

Representing the awardees, Professor Li Mei shared her thoughts: “I have witnessed the school’s remarkable progress over the past 18 years. Today, our achievements in teaching, research, and industry engagement in areas such as data journalism, computational communication, and branding are the result of 20 years of collective effort. Moving forward, I will continue to work alongside my colleagues to contribute to the school’s development.”

Prof. Li Xiaohua, Fu Jia, Zhou Yu, and Luo Yunjuan respectively reported on the annual work of the Journalism, Branding, Audiovisual Communication, and New Media Departments for 2023. Their presentations were met with widespread appreciation from attendees.

Dean Chen Gang delivered a speech titled “2023 Work Summary and 2024 Key Objectives,” highlighting the school’s innovative achievements in talent cultivation, academic research, and social service over the past year. He also addressed areas for improvement, calling for collective efforts to overcome challenges and better serve society in the coming year.

Administrative leaders Tan Zhiwei and Liu Tao, along with Associate Deans Cao Xiaojie, Zhang Qingyuan, and Wu Xiaokun, reflected on their work experiences and shared their outlook for the future.
In the closing segment, the school presented special awards to recognize significant contributions by faculty members. Professors Duan Chunlin and Ming Zongfeng received the “2023 Dean’s Award,” while former Dean Su Hongyuan was honored with the “School Contribution Award.”



The 2023 Annual Work Report Meeting comprehensively summarized the school’s achievements, showcased the strengths of each department, and reflected on areas for improvement. Ultimately, the event aimed to promote the school’s future high-quality development.
