Recently, the result of the “Understanding China” campaign was announced. The student team from the School of Journalism and Communication of SCUT won the Best Essay Award and the Best Micro Video Award, and their works were shortlisted for the outstanding Works exhibition of China Education TV.

The Best Essay Award work “Eagle Takes Off From Here” was directed by Professor Chu Dongai and completed by three students, Zhang Minyang, Ji Yixin and Wang Yulin. Li Dongsheng, president of TCL and a distinguished graduate of SCUT, was born and raised during the wave of reform and opening up. He writes about the dream of the family and the nation and continues the love with the school in the spirit of tenacity and perseverance. The essay present the moving story in multiple dimensions. 

The Best Micro Video Award work “The Sun Spreader” was directed by Associate Professor Huang Guiping and completed by four students, Wu Bingxiao, Li Mingying, Yu Rong and Xia Lu. The video assists students with difficulties as the primary goal. The “college students sunshine growth team” was established in collaboration with the student work department and the Committee for the wellbeing of the youth. In the first event, a group of 18 old comrades acted as growth counselors for 23 students, resulting in positive parenting outcomes. Among them, three consultants, He Xiaoping, Zhang Yiliang, and Zhong Hantong, were interviewed and videotaped for the video, which subtly revealed the sincere heart of these “sun spreaders” .
