On the afternoon of December 28, the 2023 Annual Reporting Conference of the School of Journalism and Communication, SCUT, was held in the 301 Lecture Hall of B9 South Block. The leadership team and all faculty members of the School attended the conference.

At the conference, the leaders presented awards to the winners of the Teaching Excellence Award and Research Excellence Award of the year 2023.

During the work report session, the heads of the departments of journalism, branding, audiovisual, and network new media, respectively, Li Xiaohua, Fu Jia, Zhou Yu, and Luo Yunjuan, reported on their respective departments’ work in 2023. Faculty on the site have given their unanimity affirmation and acclaim after completely understanding each department’s accomplishments in terms of faculty achievements, professional construction, teaching management, academic activities, scientific research achievements, social services, etc.

Chen Gang, dean of the school, presented a work report titled “Summary of Work in 2023 and Key Points of Work in 2024.” He gave a detailed overview of the progress, successes, shortcomings, and issues in the areas of party planning, talent cultivation, academic research, social service in 2023. He also discussed the efforts made for introduction of high-level talents and development of interdisciplinarity. 

Members of the College's leadership team made a report on their work, summarising and reviewing all aspects of the College's work, and improving the quality and efficiency of the College's work by summing up their experiences and shortcomings.

At the conclusion of the conference, the school presented two teachers, Duan Chunlin and Ming Zongfeng, with the “Dean’s Award 2023” in recognition of their commitment to the school’s work and students’ education, and Professor Su Hongyuan, the previous dean, with the “Contribution to the School ” Award.
