Our students won the first and third place of "2021 College Journalism Award" by China Daily

On December 9, the 10th anniversary of the University Journalism Awards and 2021 University Journalism Awards ceremony was held in Hong Kong. Our school of Journalism and Communication's two works robbing Peter to pay Paul: Their future trapped in online small loans and Migrant Workers' Self-defense counter-attack -- douban Stingy Women's Union group research respectively won the champion of Best Economic News Report and the third prize of Best New Media Report.

Award List

Founded in 2012, The China Daily College Journalism Award (formerly known as Campus Journal Journalism Award) is held annually to encourage college students to actively participate in campus news reporting and exercise their news writing skills as well as multimedia production and application abilities. It is the only interactive platform for students in mainland China, Taiwan and four regions to communicate and interact with each other.

A total of 54 universities, including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Renmin University, Nanjing University, South China University of Technology, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, University of Macau, Fu Jen University in Taiwan and Shixin University in Taiwan, submitted 770 entries in Both Chinese and English, and 76 of them won prizes.74 political, business and media elites from Taiwan, Taiwan and other Parts of Asia acted as judges to award the first and second runners-up in 24 awards, including Best Campus News Report, Best News Writing, Best News Feature and Best News Photo.

Lam Cheng Yuet-Ngor, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, pre-recorded a video message for the award ceremony. She said the selection has faced some challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the organizer made great efforts to overcome various difficulties and successfully held the event, providing a unique interactive platform for media students from Taiwan, Taiwan and four places, which deserves recognition.

In speech, Chief Secretary for Administration Of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Li Jiachao mentioned three rare aspects of the ceremony: first, the stabilization of the epidemic in Hong Kong has enabled the event to be held offline and life has gradually returned to normal;Second, China Daily has been holding the Journalism Awards for the past 10 years without interruption of the epidemic.Third, the award-winning students care about the society, have a broad vision, have a keen sense of news judgment, are rare news media fresh force.

The students said that they were very honored to receive the award. Thanks for the guidance of the teachers from the proposal to the publication of nearly two months, and they are still helping us to revise every word when the deadline is approaching.Professor Zheng Yudan said that the school has always adhered to the concept of journalists focusing on issues and keeping watch over society. Each of the entries in this competition was excellent. Although some of the entries were not awarded, they were rewarded with their best efforts.

The School of Journalism and Communication combines talent training with social practice and discipline competitions, roots the ideal of journalism in the earth, and insists on promoting education through competitions, which well cultivates students' vision of journalism and national feelings, and undertakes the mission of contributing to the country and the society.
