Overview of Laboratories

1. Live Streaming Multi-function Laboratory

The Live Streaming Multi-function Laboratory was built in September 2021 and is located in room 301, south block, building B9, with an area of 125 square meters. The laboratory, integrated with a small green box in the back and a multi-functional conference room in the front, can realize the application scenarios such as conference live broadcast, lecture live broadcast, and virtual studio live broadcast. It is applicable to the teaching of practical courses such as news broadcasting, e-commerce live streaming, virtual broadcasting, live broadcasting technology, real-time keying, etc.

 

 


The laboratory is equipped with an integrated livestudio HD2 machine and three mobile wireless cameras. The livestudio supports real-time keying, two-dimensional scene replacement, online graphic packaging, and other functions, and can simultaneously distribute network streaming media to Tencent, Youku, Weibo, Wechat, Adobe media server, Wowza Stream Server, Akamai, and other major platforms. The flexible view finding and convenient operation make the live broadcast simple and easy.

 

 

 

2. Action Capture and Mix Reality Laboratory

The Action Capture and Mix Reality Laboratory was built in December 2020 and is located in room 405, middle block, building B9, with an area of 84 square meters. The laboratory is equipped with a green box, special cameras for action capture and other equipment, and adopts a REALIS large space MR multi-person interaction system, which can realize the perfect mix of action capture and visual immersion. It mainly serves the film and television shooting, green screen real-time keying, scene and actor three-dimensional space replacement, and other digital multimedia MR training scene teaching. At the same time, it can also undertake the functions of virtual reality broadcasting and online course recording, so as to provide an innovative integral application of virtual reality for film and television communication teaching.

         This laboratory can not only support the teaching of experimental/practical courses in convergence media, virtual reality broadcasting, and e-commerce live broadcasting for the students of video communication, journalism, and advertisement majors, but also provide hardware support for students’ practical projects and discipline competition in virtual reality, video production, photography and other disciplines. At the same time, it has the functions for scientific research and secondary development, and can promote the development and construction of 3D scene design, 3D animation, and other related courses of the school.

 


 

3. Media Convergence Laboratory


   The Media Convergence Laboratory was built in May 2016 and is located in room 404, middle block, building B9, with an area of 126 square meters. The laboratory has 62 Apple computers, which provide experimental teaching facilities for many experimental courses such as “Network Information Retrieval and Utilization”, “The Basic of Database Technology”, “Web Page Design and Production”, “Multimedia Material and Production”, “Audio-Visual Program Production”, etc. The laboratory serves an average of more than 9000 experimental people-hours and services extracurricular open experiments with an average of more than 100 person-times per year.

 


 

4. Photography and Camera Laboratory


   Photography and Camera Laboratory was built in December 2005 and is located in room 201, south block, building B9, with an area of 90 square meters. The laboratory has 75 high-definition digital cameras and 45 high-definition digital video cameras. It serves for practical courses such as “basic photography”, “fundamental of photography”, and so on. These cameras have been used for more than 4000 person-times/year.


 

5.Open-type video studio

 

The open-type video studio was built in December 2014 and is located in the corridor on the third floor, middle block, building B9, with an area of 84 square meters. The laboratory is equipped with a small podium, photographic lightings, a projector, a mobile four-way video switcher, a network encoder, and other equipment. It provides students with experimental and practical services in photography, video recording, and webcasts all the time.
